Year 13 Prom
Hi everyone! Sorry I have been so absent recently, the end of the year got pretty hectic, I had graduation, then my exam and three days in Dubai until I flew to Canada, which I was packing for and buying presents. I have been in Canada around three weeks now (it's gone by so quickly- sob :'( ) and I've been having an amazing time. Unfortunately the internet has been rather temperamental as there has been flooding in Calgary which is where I am staying. Anyway, on with the post! As many of you know I have finished school. Completely. Forever. I go to Uni in September to study Fashion Management, which I am SUPER excited about, albeit a bit nervous. At the end of the term we had our Year 13 prom, so I thought I would give you guys a post of what I wore. Enjoy :)
The dress, which I am still completely in love with is from Lipsy. After school one day I was wandering around the shops, not looking for anything in particular and I came across a dress I reaaaallly liked, but they didn't have it in my size. So I was looking behind that dress and came across this one, I felt like it was meant to be (haha). It was my size, a gorgeous colour, and when I tried it on, it fit perfectly (which is usually difficult considering I am so small, it's hard to find dresses that fit me, there is usually about a foot of fabric left at the bottom). I checked the price tag and found that it had been reduced twice, once to 200dhs and then again to 100dhs. I jumped at the chance, took it to the till and found out it was actually 80dhs (about £13 for British readers)- what a bargain!
As it was a bright colour but fairly simple shape, I wanted a nude shoe but with a bit of glam. I went to New Look on a mission and found these wonderful heels. I don't usually wear heels, I typically find them uncomfortable and end up taking them off, but I wanted to go for it anyway. They are a nude faux-seude with bows on each toe made up of crystals. The bag is also from New Look and is the same shade of nude in an envelope shape.
For my jewellery I wore this vintage necklace that belongs to my Mum - I love the shape of it and I wanted to add a bit of glam to the outfit. I wore my tiffany bracelet and my baby bangle as usual and added a Swarovski crystal bracelet. In my ears I wore simple crystal studs, as I had my hair swept to the side.
Sorry for the creepy close-up but I wanted to show you guys my eye make-up! Haha. I did a green smokey eye that matched the colours in my dress. I swept the green all across my lid, emphasising my inner corners with a sparkly silver to make my eyes appear bigger. I then swept a matt black across the outer corners of my eye and blended everything in to create the smokey effect. I tightlined my eyes with black liner, and using an angled brush applied the same green along my lower lash line. I finished my eyes with two coats of mascara. For my lips I went for a bold pink, which is the Rimmel Apocalyps in 'Apocalyptic', as I am so pale I can't really rock a nude lip, so I went for something with a pop of colour.
I got my hair done at Hair Corridor, I wanted to have a half up half down kind of style but swept to the side. I decided to go for a french braid to the side, and curl the half of my hair which was left down. I really liked the hairstyle and think that it showcased my ombre really well. I added in these nude flowers afterwards the draw the look together. (Sorry the picture is a bit overexposed I was trying to take the image myself- which proved rather difficult!)
So that's my prom look all together, I hope you enjoyed it! Look out for more posts coming soon :) xo
