Beauty Buys

As some of you may know, it was my birthday last week, I'm now 22 and officially a twenty-something (for some reason 21 has its own separate category in my mind). For my birthday, Siina treated me to a trip to London and a budget for some serious shopping. Along with a few fashion bits (coming soon), I picked up some beauty items I've had my eye on for a while.

The first stop on our shopping trip was the Charlotte Tilbury counter, as a student, I would often pop into department stores to stare longingly at that burgundy and rose gold packaging and the selection of lipsticks, so it was the first place on my list.

The second beauty stop was Debenhams on Oxford Street to restock my Kat Von D liquid liner and admire yet more lipsticks (I was also very tempted by the re-released fragrance in Saint but resisted in favour of a new denim jacket).

While at the Charlotte Tilbury counter I was immediately drawn to the Matte Revolution lipstick in Love Liberty. It's an autumnal berry shade on the darker end of the spectrum, however slightly more pink toned than the purple Glastonberry colour. I've since worn it almost every day (intermittently with my Kat Von D liquid lipstick- more on that further down) and I absolutely love it, it's very comfortable on the lips (much more so than the MAC matte variety) and stays on well, fading out nicely even through food and drink.

The Filmstar Bronze and Glow then caught my eye, having heard a lot about it, I was unsure at first, as I'm not a massive contour lover due to the sheer chubbiness of my hamster cheeks. I asked the make-up artist if I could give it a go in store and loved the more sculpted, glowy look it offered me. I went for the shade fair/medium and it's perfect on my skin tone, the products are beautifully pigmented and a little goes a long way.

I then found myself at the Kat Von D counter in Debenhams, where I initially headed for a re-stock of my favourite liquid liner, the Tattoo Liner in Trooper. While there I obviously couldn't resist a look at the Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks. I already have one in a dark red called Outlaw, but I was keen to check out the Lolita colours, having heard so much about them. I tested both but much preferred the original Lolita as Lolita II seemed too pink/pale for my skin tone.

I'm already a massive fan of the Tattoo Liner due to the depth of the black (I hate a grey looking/ shiny liquid liner) and the nib of the pen, making it very easy to create a fine line, which can be difficult with some of the felt-tip style liners. I'm also a lover of the liquid lipstick formulation, again it's not too drying and lasts forever and requires little in the way of reapplication.

The final purchase was a very kind gift from my Mum, after getting our eyebrows done at the Benefit Brow Bar last week, the brow technician applied the new Foolproof Brow Powder to fill in my eyebrows. I loved the defined but natural look it gave, as a fan of the Soap and Glory Archery pencil, it takes a lot to convert me to powders, but I was won over. I love the fact the product contains two shades to emphasise the arch and tail end of the brow.

So, those are all my beauty purchases over the last couple of weeks, I've been loving having new make-up to play with and am very grateful to both Siina and my Mum for the generous gifts.

Thanks for reading!
